Practice Round Day
This week is finally the start of some competitive golf. It’s been a while since I’ve played a tournament and I have been itching to get out there and get started on the year. The tournament is part of the Hooters Tour, and the top 10% of the field will be fully exempt for the year on the tour, meaning they will have first choice of events to play.
I played the practice round today with a couple other competitors and felt good about the golf course. It’s called Deer Island and is located about an hour north of Orlando. The course is demanding off the tee with lots of water and is not terribly long, a combination that really fits my game. The field is a lot smaller than I had anticipated with only 40 players, but a small field makes running the tournament really easy and we’ll play quickly with so few groups. It’s rained all day, so the course may be kind of wet, but the rest of the week is supposed to be sunny, windy, and cool with highs in the 50′s. The weather will really dictate scoring so we’ll see what happens.
I’ll post again tomorrow after the first round. I tee off at 9 am and unfortunately for this tournament there is no live scoring, so I’ll let everyone know where I stand.
P.S. I’ll post pictures at the end of the week. Too much rain today for any picture taking.
